Terry Byrum
Chief
Terry Byrum joined Wesley Chapel VFD in 1976 shortly after the department was formed. He has held many positions including Captain and Assistant Chief before becoming Chief. Terry has served as the Chief of the department for many years. He also currently serves as Vice President of the department. He has led the change from a rural fire department to one that serves one of the fastest growing areas in the country.
Terry literally helped build the department. Station 31 was built by the members in 1985 and the addition of the ladder truck bay was built in 2000. He also is overseeing the construction of the new Station 31.
He is Firefighter I certified and has attended many training classes including aircraft rescue and firefighting, farm machinery extrication and wildland fire suppression.
Terry is a native of Union County and graduated from Sun Valley High School. He is a farmer and custom harverster. He is an avid outdoorsman and loves to hunt and fish.
